Using a gentle, low-energy blue light, the scanner reads carotenoid levels through the skin of the finger in just seconds. The resulting Skin Carotenoid Score provides a science-backed indicator that has been shown to align with overall antioxidant status. What Does The Scan Measure
The Scanner operates using the science of light. At its core, light is made up of photons—the tiniest units of energy.
While white light contains photons of many wavelengths, each corresponding to a different color, the Scanner emits a focused beam of blue light, all photons at 478 nanometers (nm).
When these 478 nm photons encounter carotenoids in the skin, a remarkable transformation occurs: the energy of the photon shifts to 518 nm—the wavelength we perceive as green. Carotenoids are the only molecules in nature capable of creating this specific shift.
The Scanner detects the green photons reflected back from the skin. The number of these photons is directly proportional to the carotenoid concentration in the tissue. By counting them, the device calculates your Skin Carotenoid Score (SCS), providing an immediate, science-backed measure of antioxidant presence in your body.
